Jetted Bathtub Maintenance Tips for Longevity

A jetted bathtub is an investment. Not just financially, but in your daily wellness routine. And like any investment, it repays you much better when you take care of it properly. These jetted bathtub maintenance tips will help you keep your tub performing at its best for years, without needing expensive service calls or repairs.

1.    Flush the Jets Every Month

The most important maintenance step for any jetted tub is regular jet flushing. Fill the tub to about 5 cm above the highest jets, add a low-sudsing cleaner or two cups of white vinegar, and run the jets for 15 to 20 minutes. This pushes accumulated soap residue, body oils, and mineral deposits out of the internal pipes. Drain and refill with cold, clean water, then run the jets for another 10 minutes to rinse. Do this at least once a month if you use the tub regularly.

WhirlWell’s jetted bathtubs are designed with smooth internal pipe surfaces that make this process more effective and reduce the rate of buildup.

2.    Clean the Jet Nozzles Individually

Over time, mineral deposits and grime can accumulate around individual jet nozzles. Use an old toothbrush to scrub around each jet after you flush the system. Most jet covers on WhirlWell’s models can be twisted counterclockwise to remove them entirely for a more thorough clean. Rinse with clean water before replacing.

3.    Wipe Down the Surface After Every Use

Acrylic surfaces are durable and stain-resistant, but consistent care keeps them looking new for longer. After each soak, take 60 seconds to wipe down the tub walls and waterline with a soft cloth. This prevents soap scum and hard water deposits from building up at the waterline. For general surface cleaning, use a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Avoid anything with bleach, harsh solvents, or abrasive powders.

4.    Be Careful With Bath Products

Bath oils, bath bombs, and highly fragrant bath salts can be wonderful additions to a soak, but they require a bit of extra care with a jetted tub. Oils in particular can coat the inside of the pipes. If you use oil-based products, flush the jets with plain warm water immediately after your bath rather than waiting until your next cleaning session. This prevents oil from sitting in the pipes and hardening over time. This is one of the most commonly overlooked jetted bathtub maintenance tips and one of the most impactful.

5.    Check the Motor and Pump Seasonally

Once or twice a year, listen carefully to the motor and pump during operation. Any unusual grinding, rattling, or changes in jet pressure can indicate a minor issue that is easy to address before it becomes a major one. WhirlWell offers product support and can guide you through basic diagnostics if anything sounds off.

6.    Protect the Finish

A light application of a non-abrasive acrylic polish once or twice a year can help maintain the glossy finish of your tub and create a slight protective layer against buildup. Look for polishes specifically formulated for acrylic bathroom fixtures.

Keep Your Tub as Good as Day One

Following these jetted bathtub maintenance tips consistently is what separates a tub that ages well from one that needs expensive repairs within a few years. A little effort regularly beats a big effort occasionally.
